Beware! Woman robbed of gold chain at unexpected location
BHOPAL, Jan 29: An unusual incident of chain-snatching occurred in an elevator at AIIMS Bhopal recently when a woman employee was robbed of her gold chain. The crime, which took place on Sunday, was captured on CCTV. The accused was arrested later.

The incident occurred in an elevator located behind the blood bank at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal.

The victim, Varsha Soni, an attendant in the gynaecology department, who was alone in the lift at the time. The accused is Sunil Meena, a 25-year-old nursing student.

The accused entered the lift with the victim, engaged in casual conversation to appear harmless, and then suddenly snatched her gold chain as the doors opened on the third floor before fleeing the scene.

The Bhopal police launched a swift investigation, scanning footage from over 45 CCTV cameras within the hospital and surrounding areas to track the culprit. The accused was identified and arrested in the Katara Hills area, and the stolen jewellery was recovered from a local jeweller.
