VALSAD, Jan 31: A snake charmer has revived a reptile that was electrocuted when it climbed an electric post in a Valsad village by performing CPR for nearly 30 minutes.
Mukesh, who claimed he has been rescuing snakes for several years, said he received training from the Snake Research Institute at Valsad to perform CPR on snakes.
"I opened the mouth of the snake and gave CPR about 20 times tapping its heart at intervals. It regained respiration after 30 minutes," he said. The incident took place last month.
In another case recently, a video of a policeman performing CPR on an unconscious snake was shared on social media.
Trained wildlife rescuers in India revive electrocuted and injured snakes using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The process involves opening the snake’s mouth to deliver direct breaths, lasting about 30 minutes. A straw can also be used to facilitate airflow into the glottis.
