Sundari is a double-reeded instrument like the oboe, traditionally used for religious and auspicious ceremonies, pageants and processions.
It is part of open-air musical ensembles played in temple courtyards and is conventionally accompanied by drums like the Dukkad or Naqqara. This instrument is now also played solo on the concert platform. BACK |
