Bollywood, which is often caught in controversies and accused of maintaining nexus with the Underworld, is now hoping for a clean-chit, and awaiting revelations, to be made by the police in the Abu Salem case. Abu Salem - a key accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts that took more than 250 lives - was extradited from Portugal recently. The Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) Court An Indian anti-terror court has remanded Salem for further investigations. Talking to reporters in Mumbai, Bhatt said that the government should take up investigations to draw a clear picture about the long-standing accusations of Bollywood-Underworld nexus. "There is no denying the fact that there are people who have social relations and at times they might have cross social relations with the underworld. So I would plea to the government of the day, now that you have a very important person of the underworld in your hold, please investigate and tell us who amongst us are the bad boys, take out, give us a white paper, tell us exactly where the industry stands. "Enough of these allegations. We are tired now of being attacked and defending ourselves," said Mahesh Bhatt. The
noted filmmaker also congratulated the police officials on their success
and said the accused should be given a fair trial, which is "the hallmark
of civilised society". "There is no denying that there is an advantage
the police has today. The investigating agency should be applauded for
doing a job of getting him after four years. It was not an easy battle.
But this is one phase. You have the legal battle now and you must give
the person a fair trial. That's the hallmark of civilised society," added
Bhatt. Abu Salem and his girl friend Monica Bedi, a former Bollywood actress,
who were extradited from Portugal after three years of enclosure are said
to have connections with many in the Mumbai film industry. According to
reports, during the recent investigations Salem has revealed a list of
films he either produced through his point-men in Mumbai, or secured rights
to distribute overseas. Salem has also been accused of killing the famous
