Wife of stamp paper scam accused Telgi surrenders

Pune: Shahida, the wife of multi-crore fake stamp paper scam accused Abdul Karim Telgi, surrendered before a Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Pune today. Earlier, Shahida failed to appear before the court on two occasions. Special Judge B N Sardespande issued process against Shahida on September 16 under various sections of the MCOCA and the IPC. Soon after Shahida's surrender, Harshad Nimbalkar, the defence lawyer, filed a bail application in the court suggesting that his client be released on medical grounds. "After the court summoned, she (Shahida Telgi) surrendered before the court. We have filled a bail application where we have stated that she is on death bed and suffering from many diseases. Even CBI while filing the case against her stated that she will not be arrested due to her health problems. So I think that there will be no problem for court in granting her bail," said Harshad Nimbalkar. Shahida will be kept in the court custody till the next orders are passed. Earlier, Shahida had been interrogated several times as a witness by the CBI and finally became the 67th accused in the case.
