Weather forecast valid for next 3 days

           During the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures have fallen further by 1-3°C over Indo-Gangetic plains and adjoining central and east India and are now near normal. Current meteorological conditions suggest that no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected during the next 48 hours. However, they will increase by 3-4°C during 23rd to 25th January 2009. Due to the prevailing strong surface wind conditions, dense fog is not expected over Indo-Gangetic plains during the next 48 hours. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from tomorrow onwards. However, interpretation of numerical weather prediction models suggests that the main activity will be around 24th & 25th, when the system will also affect the plains of northwest India.

          OUTLOOK (Jan 24-Jan 26): Fairly widespread rain/snow with isolated heavy falls is likely over western Himalayan region. Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers are also likely over the plains of northwest India. Fall in minimum temperatures are likely over northwest India from 26th onwards.
