Weather forecast valid for next 3 days

           As predicted, the minimum temperatures have fallen by 3-4°C over northwest and adjoining central India during the past 24 hours. The current meteorological analysis suggests that they are likely to fall further by about 2°C in the next 48 hours. Due to the likely strong surface wind conditions, very dense fog is not expected over many parts of the Indo Gangetic plains in next 2-3 days. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from 22nd onwards. However, as per the interpretation of numerical weather prediction models, the main activity will be around 24th & 25th, when the system will also affect the plains of northwest India. The lowest minimum temperature of 4.4°C was recorded at Halwara (Punjab) in the plains of northwest India.

          OUTLOOK (Jan 23-Jan 25): Fairly widespread rain/snow is likely over western Himalayan region. Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers are also likely over the plains of northwest India. Rise in minimum temperatures of about 2-3°C over northwest India likely.
