The current meteorological analysis suggests that
a fresh western disturbance is approaching. It is
likely to affect western Himalayan region mainly during
14th -18th January and plains of adjoining north India
during 17th-18th January. Night temperatures are likely
to increase by 3- 4°C over northwest India from 14th
onwards. In spite of fall of 1-3° C in minimum temperatures
over parts of central and east India, they are still
above normal by 2-5°C over central India, Gujarat
and Rajasthan. Further fall by about 2°C is likely
over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next 48 hours.
The lowest minimum temperature of 2.2°C was recorded
at Adampur (Punjab) in the plains of northwest India.
OUTLOOK
(Jan 16-Jan 18): Scattered to fairly widespread precipitation
is likely over western Himalayan tegion. Isolated
to scattered rain/thundershowers is likely over northern
plains.
