           Interpretation of numerical weather prediction models indicates that a western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region mainly during 14th -18th January and the plains of adjoining north India during 17th- 18th January. Night temperatures are likely to increase by 3- 4°C over northwest India from 14th onwards. Minimum temperatures are above normal by 2-5°C over central India & adjoining areas. Current meteorological analysis indicates that they are likely to fall by 2-3°C during in the next 48 hours. However, day temperatures which are currently below normal by 4-6°C will register an increasing trend. The lowest minimum temperature of 2.0°C was recorded at Churu (Rajasthan) in the plains of northwest India.

          OUTLOOK (Jan 15-Jan 17): Scattered to fairly widespread precipitation is likely over western Himalayan region. Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers is likely over northern plains.
