As
predicted, fairly widespread snowfall with isolated
heavy falls have occurred over western Himalayan region
during the past 24 hours. The chief amounts of precipitation
(3 cm or more) are: Qazigund & Sonamarg -7 each, Banihal-
6, Anantnag & Srinagar- 5 each, Batote-4 and Gulmarg-3.
The current meteorological conditions suggest that
the western disturbance will move away eastwards within
next 24 hours. Under this scenario, mainly dry weather
will prevail over northwest India on 7th & 8th. The
minimum and maximum temperatures are 3-6°C above normal
over many parts of northwest and central India. They
are likely to fall by 2-4°C on 7th &8th.
OUTLOOK
(Feb 9-Feb 11): A fresh western disturbance is likely
to affect northwest India, causing snowfall over hills
and light rain/thundershowers over Punjab, Haryana,
Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh.
