Yesterday’s depression over Sri Lanka and neighbourhood
concentrated into a deep depression at 1730 hrs IST
of 25 November and it lay centred at 0530 hours IST
on 26 November 2008 near lat. 10.00 N and long. 80.00
E, about 50 km southeast of Vedaranniyam. The system
is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly
direction and cross Tamil Nadu coast near Vedaranniyam
within a few hours. Under its influence, rainfall
at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a
few places and isolated extremely heavy falls is likely
over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24
hours. Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy
to very heavy falls is also likely over Kerala during
the same period.

Enhanced rainfall activity is likely to continue over
south peninsula. Isolated to scattered rain likely
over Marathawada, madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and
Goa.
