Yesterday’s well marked low pressure area over Sri
Lanka and neighbourhood persists. The interpretation
of numerical weather prediction models indicate that
the system is likely to concentrate into a depression
over southwest Bay of Bengal by tomorrow and further
intensify into a tropical cyclone during subsequent
48 hours. Widespread rainfall activity with isolated
heavy to very heavy falls is likely over extreme south
peninsula during the next 48 hours. Thereafter the
rainfall activity likely to increase in intensity
over extreme south Peninsula and also extend northwards
into more parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and adjoining
Maharashtra and Goa. The minimum temperatures are
near normal over northwest and central India. The
meteorological analysis indicates slight increase
in minimum temperature over these areas during the
next 3 days.
WARNING:
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over
Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Kerala, south coastal Andhra
Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar islands.
