Weather forecast valid for next 3 days

      Yesterday’s low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest bay persists over the same region and is a well marked low pressure area. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours. Numerical weather prediction models indicate its initial west-northwestwards movement, leading to increase in rainfall activity over south peninsula. Current meteorological analysis and numerical weather prediction models suggest that a western disturbance as an upper system is likely to cause scattered precipitation activity over western Himalayan region during the next 2-3 days. Minimum temperatures are above normal by 2-5 deg  C over parts of northwest and central India, Rajasthan and Gujarat. With the approaching of the western disturbance, the minimum temperatures are likely to continue above normal by 3-5 deg C over the same region till 15th and decrease thereafter.

OUTLOOK: Fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is likely over coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, south Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep. Increase in rainfall activity over the remaining parts of south peninsula. Fall in night temperatures over northwest and adjoining central India.
