The western disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood
persists. The trough in mid and upper tropospheric
westerlies lies with its axis at roughly along longitude
60°E, north of latitude 23°N. In view of the above
systems, fairly widespread rain/snowfall is likely
to continue over western Himalayan region during the
next 48 hours and decrease thereafter. Isolated to
scattered rainfall is also likely over Punjab and
Haryana during the the period. Minimum temperatures
are above normal by 4-7°C over northwest & adjoining
westcentral India. This scenario of above normal minimum
temperatures is likely to continue over the regions
during the next 1-2 days. Subsequently minimum temperatures
are likely to fall by 3-5°C from 21st onwards. Fog
is also likely over parts of northwest India. Fog
is prevailing over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and parts
of west Uttar Pradesh & northestern states.
OUTLOOK
(Dec 22-Dec 24): Further fall in minimum temperatures
is likely over northwest, east & central India.
