Weather forecast valid for next 3 days

      The western disturbance as an upper air system over northwest India persists and is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/snowfall activity during the next 2-3 days. A trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies is approaching and likely to increase the intensity of rain/snowfall over western Himalayan region during the next 48 hours. Minimum temperatures currently prevailing over northwest & adjoining westcentral India are above normal by 3-4° C except west Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat where these are above normal by 6-10° C. The current temperature scenario is likely to continue till 20th December over these regions and decrease thereafter. Under the influence of easterly wave, scattered rain/thundershowers are likely over south peninsula during the next 2-3 days.

OUTLOOK (Dec 21-Dec 23): Minimum temperatures are likely to fall over northwest, east & central India. Isolated rainfall activity is likely over northeastern States and south Peninsular India.
