Report & Forecast (Indicating regional changes)
October 17, 2008
Weather
forecast valid for next 3 days
The
western disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood
is moving away eastwards. The ongoing fairly widespread
precipitation activity over western Himalayan region
is likely to decrease from tomorrow onwards. With
the eastward movement of the system, night temperatures
are likely to fall by 2-3 deg C over northwest India
during the next 24 hours. Yesterday’s feeble low pressure
area over southeast Arabian sea persists. It is likely
to become more marked. Scattered to fairly widespread
rainfall activity is likely over many parts of south
peninsula and Lakshadweep during the next 2-3 days.
Due to the prevailing of easterly/east-southeasterly
winds, the maximum temperatures are above normal by
4-6 deg C along the west coast and by 2-4 deg C over
central India and adjoining areas.
WARNING
(Next 48 hours): Isolated heavy rainfall is likely
over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
