Morning’s depression over north Bay of Bengal off Bangladesh coast moved in a
westerly direction. The system was likely to move in a northwesterly direction
and cross Bangladesh coast by today evening. Under its influence, rainfall at
most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy
falls at isolated places is likely over Gangetic West Bengal and north Orissa
during the next 48 hours. Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very
heavy falls is also likely over south Orissa and Jharkhand during the period.
The seasonal trough at sea level passes through Anoopgarh, Alwar, Mainpuri, Varanasi,
Patna, Shanti Niketan and centre of depression and thence southeastwards into
east central Bay of Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto lower
troposphere lies over Haryana and neighbourhood. The current meteorological analysis
suggests fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely
over western Himalayan region and northern plains during the next 48 hours. Rain/thundershowers
are likely at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand,
Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west UP. Rain/thundershowers are likely at most places
over Gangetic West Bengal and north Orissa and at many places over the rest of
the region. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places in Arunachal Pradesh,
Assam and Meghalaya. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places over coastal
Karnataka. Rain/ thundershowers are likely at a few places over north coastal
Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar islands and isolated over the rest
of the region. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places over Konkan, Goa,
central Maharashtra and north & southeast Rajasthan and isolated over the rest
of the region. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places in Chhattisgarh,
Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. Mainly
dry weather in the rest of the country. Monsoon
Watch: Southwest monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of
Haryana and some more parts of Rajasthan. Warning
(for the next 48 hours): Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated
extremely heavy falls is likely over Gangetic West Bengal and north Orissa during
next the 48 hours. Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph are likely along and
off north Orissa and West Bengal coasts during the next 24 hours. Sea condition
is rough to very rough along and off these coasts. Fishermen are advised not to
venture into the sea. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over south
Orissa, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana,
