All-religion prayer for the victims of Assam blasts

Kolkata: An all-religion prayer session was held in Kolkata on Friday for the victims of the serial bomb blasts that ripped through Guwahati and three other towns on Thursday in which 70 people were killed and over 300 injured. People from all communities came together to pray for the people who lost their lives in the bomb blasts. The prayers organised by the All-India Minority Forum, also condemned the acts of terror which have rocked the country in the recent months. "We also condemned the activities of terrorism, in all places like Assam, Delhi, and other states. We should fight together irrespective of caste and creed," said Idrish Ali, President, All India Minority Forum.

Twelve high intensity serial bomb blasts rocked Guwahati and some other cities of Assam on Thursday morning. The first explosion took place near the Ganeshguri flyover near the high-security capital complex housing the Assembly building, followed by explosions at Paltan Bazar and Fancy Bazar in Guwahati. Around the same time, bombs also went off in crowded market places of Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta in lower Assam. The banned ULFA has denied any role in these blasts.
