Serial bomb blasts kill 66 in Assam


          Guwahati: Thirteen coordinated bomb blasts across the troubled northeastern state of Assam Thursday noon killed 66 people and wounded over 300. The police said that one of the blasts in the Capital Guwahati targeted a high security zone where courts, offices and homes of senior police officials are siuated. The banned separatist ULFA is one of the suspects alongwith the HUJI, indicating a coming together of militants of Bangladesh and the local secessionist extremists. There were six blasts in Guwahati in which 33 died, three in Kokrajhar where 21 died, one blast in Bongaigaon and three in Barapeta killing 12 people. This has been one of the worst bomb attacks in recent past in the country. A car and a scooter were found to have been used as vehicles for the explosives. Timer devices and RDX were used.
