Lakme Fashion Week kicks off with panache
                    in Mumbai       Mumbai: Lakme
Fashion Week kicked off with panache here last evening, with
outfits in red and black dazzling those present at the do.
Weaving together a story of red and black, the designer duo
of Shantanu and Nikhil put up a collection of eye-catching
outfits for men and women. The show opened with a stunning
red halter gown with antique silver chains and medallions
and the outfits that followed did not disappoint either. Sensuous
floor length coats with silver zardosi insets to black sari
drape gowns, the show had a touch of the vibrant Spanish feel
as frills and ruffles appeared on hemlines, dresses and on
the necklines to give a totally flamboyant look to the creations.
The collection was a tribute from the designer duo to influences
that left their imprints on the Indian culture. "We are saluting
the culture that came into India and left a footprint and
using Spanish flaminco, those influences that had once upon
a time come into India. We've given that a little bit of a
tribal look and keeping it still Indian in terms of usage
of embroidery. But, this collection is a collection for women
all over the world," said Nikhil.       Men's wear was
as opulent, as black sherwanis and Jodhpuri jackets were splashed
with ornate prints and red shading with detailing on shoulders
and sleeves. The antique silver chains and necklaces were
strategically placed for both men's and women's garments.
The collection was appreciated by one and all. "Whether it's
casual wear or the top line, I think, it's extraordinary.
They are doing very well I hope they make it in the world
market," said Suneil Shetty, Bollywood actor. Lakme Fashion
