Salman, Saif appear in Jodhpur court
in black buck shooting case

Jodhpur: A Jodhpur court has directed actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and four other stars to appear before it in connection with the 1997 shooting of four black bucks. The final verdict is likely to be given today. The direction to appear before the court was issued by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Jodhpur, Salman's lawyer Dipesh Mehta, told the reporters. Besides, Salman and Saif, Neelam, Tabbu, Sonali Bhendre and Satish Shah have also been asked to be present in the court. The actors shot the black bucks, an endangered species, in Rajasthan when they had gone for a film shooting in 1997. Salman was arrested earlier in the case and granted bail while others had secured anticipatory bail, Mehta said. In December last year, a Rajasthan court had cancelled Salman's bail after he missed a scheduled court appearance on charges of killing the black bucks. The chief judicial magistrate of Jodhpur BK Jain had issued a non-bailable warrant against Salman for disobeying the court and not appearing in the court thrice in the black buck killing case. Justice S C Dharmadhikari granted Salman a protection period till December 20 regarding the implementation of the warrant. The court, however, asked Salman to appear before the competent court within ten days in the black buck killing cases. A Jodhpur court had recently issued an arrest warrant against the Salman in the black buck killing case. In his application, the actor said he had pleaded exemption from personal appearance as he had undergone hair weaving surgery on December 11 and was advised not to move out for two days. The local court had adjourned the hearing in the two cases till January 12. Last year, in the month of June, Saif Ali Khan's father and cricket legend, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, was charged with killing black buck, an endangered species, in Haryana. Pataudi after denial was granted bail.
