Nearby is Srisailam's highest peak of Sikharam (2835 ft). The Sikhareswara temple here is dedicated to Lord Shiva. After worshipping the Veera Sankara Linga if one views from here the Mallikarjuna temple, it is said, one will be emancipated from the bondage of the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, and will get liberated from all sins of the presesnt life. The Sanskrit sloga says: Srisaila Sikharam drushtva punarjanma navidyate. Another temple around is Sakthi Ganapathi temple. Hatakeswaram is yet another historical spot where a temple is dedicated to Adi Sankara. The philosopher-saint performed penance here and wrote Sivananda Lahari.
