Fog
disrupts flights in New Delhi again
New
Delhi: A thick fog engulfed the national capital New
Delhi, disrupting several flights on Sunday morning. Several
flights were either delayed or diverted to other cities
due to poor visibility. Stranded, the passengers waited
outside the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport
in New Delhi with their luggage. "Within an hour the fog
has become so dense. The entry inside the airport is stopped,
so all the people are standing outside for now, we are
facing lot of problem. We have also come here to receive
somebody but we don't know when their flight will come
in as there is no information on the flights' timings,"
said Prashant, a local resident. The passengers and visitors
complained of mismanagement at the airport. They alleged
that the authorities failed to provide basic information
about schedule of the flights. Agra resident P.C. Dubey,
who came to receive his son, the wait proved to be rather
weary. "A thick fog caused delay of several flights. But
the people should at least announce the rescheduled time
of the flights. We have come from so far, and are facing
so much trouble waiting here. The delay is due to bad
weather, not really the fault of these people. Still it
would help if they at least told us something about the
rescheduled time of the flights," he said. Rainfall in
the early hours of morning also added to the worsening
weather over Delhi. It caused a dip in temperatures, while
the fog and cloudy weather cast a gloomy effect on the
city.
