Heavy snowfall attracts tourists to Manali
by Prem Thakur

Kullu: Tourists are thronging Manali in Himachal Pradesh for revelry in the heavy snow. "I am enjoying. We are spending good time here and children are enjoying the most," said Mohmad Ansari, a tourist. Tourists indulged in making figures of snow and throwing snowballs at one another. Located at an altitude of 2,000 meters, Manali is a popular summer hill resort attracting nearly 60 per cent of the six million tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh every year. Manali attracts visitors in both summers and winters. Hotel owners in the area are offering special discounts to attract more tourists during winter generally considered off-season. "We have got a very good snowfall this season. We have introduced very good scheme packages. Infact this year, we have lots of families who are coming to see the snowfall. The craze for snowfall over the years is going up," said Vipin Vakshi, a hotel owner. Tourism industry has evolved as one of the mainstays of Himachal Pradesh's economy.
