Scarlette Keelings' mother alleges police-politician-drug-mafia nexus

Panaji: Fiona Mackeown, mother of slain British girl Scarlette Keeling, today accused Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik and State DGP BS Brar of being in nexus with drug mafia. Fiona, who appeared in the juvenile police station accompanied by her lawyer Vikram Varma, said the Home Minister and DGP have full knowledge of crime-related activities and have "done their best to protect criminals". "That has been the case with my daughter also," she added. However, the cops have arrested two accused Samson D'Souza (a barman) and Placido Carvalho (drug trader) who have confessed to killing her. The Goa police has been insisting that Scarlette's death was accidental, but subsequently filed a murder case after a second autopsy was conducted on her body. Fiona has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying that there has been a cover up of the case.
