Thick fog disrupts life in Amritsar

Amritsar: A thick fog enveloped Amritsar throwing life out of gear on Friday morning. The traffic moved at a snail's pace because of poor visibility due to fog. Many people said that their work schedules have been disrupted, some said they were enjoying the winter chill and were looking forward to this weather "Because of this weather, I had to miss my cricket practice. I am disappointed," said Tejender Singh, a resident. Northern India has been witnessing a comparatively warm winter this season but on Christmas night, Amritsar shivered as the minimum temperature fell to 2.4 degrees Celsius. Temperatures have plummeted in almost entire northern India and the Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather conditions are likely to persist. Northern India usually witnesses early morning fog every winter when night temperatures often dip below five degrees Celsius.
