Uttarakhand
Rishikesh
(Uttarakhand): The 13-day expedition called the
Golden Key White Water Rafting Expedition 2007, organised
by the Indian Army in Uttarakhand, has come to a close.
It was flagged off on March 17 from Nandprayag in the
Himalayas and ended in Veer Bhadra Barrage in Rishikesh
on River Ganges. The rafters, who have traversed a distance
of approximately 196 km, were awarded for their achievement
and bravery. "The basic objective is to inculcate the
spirit of adventure, sports, and to instil in them the
spirit of courageous activities so that they can develop
killer instincts required during the war. Second, the
aim was to meet ex servicemen and former army jawans
in this 200 km route," said Brigadier Anil Verma, General
Officer Commanding, Golden Key Division of Indian Army.
