ICICI to sell rail e-tickets

      New Delhi: The ICICI Bank and the Indian Railways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to sell e- tickets through merchant establishments. The tickets will be sold across 125 cities all over the country. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said, "Indian Railways' policy is to provide maximum facilities to the passengers at their door steps in order to make the rail journey comfortable. Describing MoU signed with ICICI Bank as a milestone in the direction of making railway tickets easily available to the people, he added that after this pilot project more facilities would be developed. To purchase the tickets one will have make the payments using its credit or debit card. The association of Indian Railways with the ICICI Bank will facilitate spreading the network of reservation counters right into the hinterlands of our country. This facility is expected to ease the chaos at the ticket counters across the railway stations, besides saving valuable time and energy of the rail users. The MOU was signed by Rajani Hasija, Group General Manager (Information and Technology), Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Sachin Khandelwal, General Manager, ICICI Bank in the presence of Railway Minsiter Lalu Prasad, and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Bank, K.V. Kamath among others dignitaries.
