Rain, snowfall cheer up tourists in Kullu
by Rajiv Kimta

Kullu: Tourists in Kullu Valley in Himachal are celebrating snow and rainfall after a long dry spell. The farmers are also happy that the rainfall will help them in getting a god harvest. Cold wave conditions have further intensified in Himachal Pradesh, with all high altitude areas experiencing fresh snowfall and widespread rains in the mid and lower areas of the State. The rainfall, after a gap of over a month, has a come as a pleasant surprise for the farmers here. "We are witnessing rain after 35 days. We hope it would prove good for all of us. It is very good for the farmers as well as the people who have grown flowers," said Arun Kumar, a farmer. Rains during this time of the season is beneficial for the growth of Rabi crops that got affected due to absence of the rain fall on time. However, the recent dry spell had cast its shadow on apple crop, the backbone of Himachal Pradesh's economy. The rain fall has brought a good news for the farmers and flower growers. Equally a happy are people engaged in tourism in the picturesque Himachal Pradesh. Over three million domestic and foreign tourists visit the State annually.
