Pak to issue 'visa on arrival' to Indian tourists Lahore:
Pakistan has decided to issue "visa on arrival" to tourists from India,
besides 23 other countries, ostensibly to boost tourism in the country.
This was disclosed by Pakistan Tourism Minister Nilofar Bakhtiar at the
Wagah Border yesterday, while receiving travellers from New Delhi. She
said that the new visa policy would be implemented within two months.
While the visa period had been increased from five to 15 days, Visit Visas
would now be for one month instead of 15 days, the Daily Times quoted
her as saying. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz prepared the visa policy himself,
she said and added that the policy was "tourist-friendly". The minister
said Pakistan and India had great potential in the tourism sector and
both could improve tourism with understanding and co-operation. "Today
is World Tourism Day and I am receiving the passengers at Wagah to convey
a message to our neighbour that Pakistan adheres to the principles of
friendship, fraternity, and peace," she said. The people to people contact
between Pakistan and India would improve relations, added the minister.
