Indo-Kazakhstan mountaineering expedition New
Delhi: A joint Indo-Kazakhstan Army Mountaineering Expedition to Mount
Nun in Ladakh's Zanskar region will take place from September 21-26, 2006.
The 34 member expedition group comprises six personnel from the Kazakhstan
Army, besides Indian Army personnel. The Kazakhstan Army team includes
officers trained at the Indian Army's Sonmarg-based High Altitude Warfare
School (HAWS). The Delhi-based Rajputana Rifles regiment will form a large
part of the Indian contingent, besides four to five experienced mountaineers
of other regiments as well. The expedition to the 7,140 meter peak will
be led by Lt Col AB Goth Ex-Vice Principal of the Himalayan Mountaineering
Institute, Darjeeling. |
