Kurukshetra as World Heritage Site proposed Chandigarh:
Kurukshetra, called to be a 'Holy Land' and 'Land of Mahabharat' will
soon to be introduced in the list of 'World Heritage Site'. Kurukshetra
and other pilgrimage areas covered under 48 kosas will be included in
the list of 'World Heritage Site', The Hindu reported Haryana Governor
A. R. Kidwai as saying at the Kurukshetra Development Board meeting here.
Dr. Kidwai said that for this development, Union Tourism Minister Ambika
Soni told that she along with a team of experts visit the place to explore
each and every single aspect to develop this place of antiquity as a world
class tourist destination. For developing Kurukshetra as a world tourist
hub, the Board also planned to assign a duty to Haryana Tourism Development
to provide a facility of producing an international standard documentary
film to attract tourists from India as well as from abroad. The Tourism
was also told to find out the ways for conducting a laser show on Bhagwad
Gita depicting Lord Krishna delivering the celestial message to Arjuna.
Besides this, other facilities like provision of central air- conditioning
of Sri Krishna Museum and construction of a Tourist Information Centre
in the Brahm Sarovar complex was also permitted by the Board. For research
on life and works of the late Prime Minister Gulzarilal Nanda, the Board
decided to set up a chair named after him at Kurukshetra University. The
meeting chaired by Kidwai was attended by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh
Hooda, Finance Minister Birender Singh, Revenue Minister Ajay Singh Yadav,
Urban Development Minister Savitri Jindal and other senior officials.
