Six tourists injured in Kashmir militant attack

Srinagar: Ten people, including six domestic tourists, were wounded on Tuesday when suspected militants attacked Tangmarg resort near here, with grenades. "When we came outside, we saw the injured inside a vehicle. We picked up the injured, and from Tangmarg, we came to this place. I have brought six people with me and do not know about the rest...All were tourists and one driver," said, Shabir Ahmed, an eyewitness. At least 15 tourists have been killed and 55 wounded this year in a series of attacks on tourists to the Kashmir Valley. Tuesday's attack came a day after Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his Pakistani counterpart Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri held informal talks in New Delhi in a bid to reinvigorate a faltering peace process. The separatist insurgency in the region has killed more than 45,000 people since it began in 1989.
