Varanasi: A German named Scander Hanee Pulric had a last wish of getting cremated as per Hindu rituals in Varanasi since he believed it to be the way to attain salvation. His friends duly carried out Pulric's last wish on Friday at Harishchandra Ghat. Pulric,
who was suffering from blood cancer, died on Thursday night in Varanasi.
He was on a world tour. Sometimes back, he was told by his doctors about
his illness and that he will not survive for more than three months. Thereafter
Pulric came India to die in the pious land of Varanasi and desired that
his last rites be performed according to the Hindu rituals so that he
could attain salvation. "His last wish was to be burnt in Varanasi and
so we did this," said Joies, one of the friends of Scander Hanee Pulric.
As per one more wish, his ashes will be immersed in the River Ganga.
