'Wheel-chair' for handicapped tourists at the Taj

Agra: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has decided to provide a special facility to physically challenged tourists so that they can enjoy the magnificence of the Taj Mahal. ASI has planned to provide a 'wheel-chair' or a 'battery-operated auto-rickshaw' as per the tourists need. With the help of this special vehicle, they can now witness the inside beauty of the monument. ASI Superintending Archaeologist D Dayalan said that earlier, physically challenged tourists who came to visit Taj Mahal had to return back as there was no facility to reach the entrance of the monument which is about six feet high. But now with the provision of this new facility, these tourists can easily enter the monument from a special entrance used by only physically challenged people. Dayalan also explained why there is a need for the construction of new entrance of Taj Mahal, saying this ordinary tourists track is not at all favourable for those who visit on special vehicle.
