Railway bans serving chicken, egg dishes on trains

     New Delhi: In view of the incidents of bird flu, the Ministry of Railway to imposed ban on serving of chicken dishes and eggs in any form from any Railway static catering units and mobile catering units with immediate effect. Instructions to this effect have been issued to all zonal railways and to the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC), said an official release of the Minister of Railway. Bird flu, also known as avian flu, is a highly contagious disease, which is spread by H-5 N1 virus. The infection occurs though contact with poultry products and chances of infection among the catering staff handling raw meat and eggs, and the passengers in the present circumstances is very high. A close watch is being kept on the progress of the disease in other parts of the country and further orders will follow depending upon the progress of the disease.
