Save
water, drink the Royal wine in Rajasthan! Jaipur: Save water, drink whisky, the colloquial saying may become a nomenclature for many drinkers in Rajasthan who will soon be able to taste the royal or heritage wine which till date remains a privilege of the royal or elite families only. Rajasthan State Ganganagar Sugar Mills, a state government company, is going to launch the liquor of same composition and taste, which was only consumed by the royals earlier. This comes as a latest initiative of Rajasthan's Ganganagar Sugar Mills, aimed at promoting equality in social set-up among all classes of society. The bottling plant, located in Jaipur, is producing five different varieties of heritage liquor, which would be sold in the open market very shortly. To maintain the royal taste, the distillery has taken a copyright of the manufacturing formulae from the various royal families of Rajasthan. Since it is heritage liquor to maintain the original taste, the entire process and recipe of all the drinks are going to be the same as was in the past. Copper and teakwood tanks are being used for fermentation to maintain the original flavour. "We've inherited the technique and the recipe of the royals. The way they used to ferment the liquid in a copper vessel overnight similarly we too are doing it. Copper has zinc has which creates a chemical reaction which improves the taste," says Prem Ratan Jain, Processor, Heritage Liquor, State Ganganagar Sugar Mills.
Manufacturers claim that the ingredients used in the entire production
are herbal and no chemical is being used in the process thereby posing
no health hazards. "Quality of Heritage liquor depends on four raw materials
which are spirit, water, spices and colour essence. For spirit we use Great
Base E&A, for water we have installed DM water for production of good
quality of water. We're purchasing good quality spices as compared to
other liquor. We don't use any artificial essence in Heritage liquor like
whiskey. For colour we use saffron which gives yellow colour. We use natural
colour and flavour, no synthetics, "said Arvind Kumar Mittal, Chief chemist,
Heritage Liquor, State Ganganagar Sugar Mills. The distillery has also
taken copyrights from the royal families. The royals are very happy with
this development as they feel that their years old tradition is being
maintained. In the first phase, five flavours of heritage wine are being
produced which are Royal Kasturi, Royal Jagmohan, Royal Chandrahas, Royal
Mawali and Royal Saunf. Royal Kasturi would be made of 21 spices, Royal
Jagmohan would be a mix of 27 herbal spices, Royal Chnandrahas would contain
76 different spices while Mawali would be a mix of 39 spices. Since this
liquor is made of rich ingredients it is going to be slightly costlier
and the price range would start from rupees 500 to 1,800 (about 12 to
40 dollars) a bottle. To woo customers and to compete with other stable
brands in the market, designing and packaging of bottle is also going
to be unique and attractive. The distillery has a capacity to produce
around 5,000 bottles a day. |
