Spiritual
leaders call for world peace Jaipur:
Spiritual leaders from over 32 countries representing different faiths
participated in a "Sanskriti Sangam" organised by International Center
for Culture Studies at Jaipur. At the four day conference, delegates representing
different beliefs spoke at length on "Spirituality Beyond Religion", the
theme of the conference. Talking about how spirituality respects all life
forms, RSS Chief, K S Sudarshan said that western countries have no respect
for life and the world is being threatened by a growing confrontation.
"Western countries are trying to grab all the oil reserves of the world
and that has led them to invade Iraq. Now, they are thinking of subjugating
Iran also. Today the Christian and the Islamic worlds who do not have
any respect for life forms are dangerously.. towards a nuclear confrontation
which has disaster consequences for world peace. It is here that spirituality
which respects all types of life forms becomes extremely relevant," claimed
Sudarshan. Meanwhile, some spiritual leaders are making efforts to bridge
the gap created by years of fight among the Jews, Christians and the Muslims.
"We are working on many grass root projects for reconciliation between
our two peoples. And also specifically facilitating dialogue between the
Arabs and the Jews from our spiritual and religious foundation. And to
bring in Imam, priests to build the bridge between our two people," said
Elyahu Maclean, spiritual leader from Israel. Spiritual delegates from
Denmark, France, Israel, Palestine and many other countries shared their
views on spirituality and world peace. |
