Chennai rail station to be connected to Egmore

     New Delhi: It is proposed to connect Chennai Central railway station and Egmore railway station through a broad gauge line. The proposal has been approved by Railway Board.The technical feasibility and commercial viability of the project with alternative to this proposal was entrusted to Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) who have completed the study and submitted the report with alternative proposals. This information was given by R Velu, Minister of State for Railways, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
