Tourist bus mishap: 10 dead in Chitoor Chitoor
(Andhra Pradesh): Ten people were left dead and 14 have been severely
injured on Sunday when a tourist bus carrying pilgrims from Chennai to
the holy town of Tirupati collided with a truck on the Tirupati-Chitoor
highway in Andhra Pradesh. "The Tamil Nadu tourist bus going to Tirupati
hit a lorry and the accident took place. In the accident ten people had
died on the spot and fourteen were severely injured. The injured were
shifted to the Puttur hospital. It's the tourist bus driver's negligence
that caused the accident," said J. Subbanna, Sub-Inspector, Puttur, Chittur
district, Andhra Pradesh. On learning about the accident, the Congress
leader, G. Muddu Krishnan Naidu reached the spot to assess the situation.
"It's very unfortunate that the pilgrims met the accident. We will take
much better steps that the incident should not be repeated again and also
take care of the injured as the accident took place in our state," said
G. Muddu Krishnan Naidu, Congress leader. Earlier, the police had rushed
to the spot to take care of the situation and admitted the injured to
the near by hospital.
