Trump's favoured judges in US Supreme Court dismiss his
lawsuit against election fraud in four States |
COMMENT: This ongoing midsummer madness of belated
electoral fraud allegations and litigation - coming from the
head of the state - is one other indicator of the degeneration
of the 'sacred' American democratic polity to Indian standard!
(Also see the petty politicians coming to the fore and
jockeying and lobbying with the Democratic transition team for top posts
in the new Government, which was never there before) The
funniest thing, and most damaging for every American, is that
the President of the most powerful United States of America
began moaning two months before the election about an
Opposition Democratic plan to rig the election! If so, at that
time what was he doing? Always it's the ruler who
would be accused of rigging an election. But here bizarre
things are happening. Not enough, Trump has now tweeted: "Joe Biden will not set foot in that White House." |
WASHINGTON, Dec 12: The US Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the Texas lawsuit
challenging Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election held on November
3. President Donald Trump, who lost his re-election to Biden, had also filed
an intervention petition in the SC joining to back up the Texas Attorney General
Ken Paxton's lawsuit.
The funny and bizarre Texas petition has now been widely diagnosed as a act
on the part of Paxton to butter up Trump for a pardon in the upcoming FBI case
of 'misuse of office to favour a donor' against him. Paxton met Trump on Thursday.
He is "fishing for a pardon," Mark Elias, attorney for the Democrats, said.
The Texas suit was filed on Tuesday against the four States of Georgia, Pennsylvania,
Michigan and Wisconsin challenging heavy use of "fraud-prone" mail-in votes as "unconstitutional."
The lawsuit was backed by 106 Republican lawmakers and 17 Republican State AGs.
Even as it looked grotesque, the top court said there is no legal right for
one State to interfere in other States' voting processes, especially in a national
election held simultaneously throughout the country, and as the election processes
in one State has nothing to do with those in other States and one State cannot
be a complainant against any fraud within other States insofar as that State
is not affected. It amounted to rejection of the petition being on flimsy grounds.
In a nutshell, how Texas can complain against electoral fraud within another
State/s which it is not concerned with?
The Supreme Court justices said Texas, which voted for Trump, "has not demonstrated
a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts
its elections."
Additionally, the US SC, although packed by conservatives of Trump's choice,
asked where is the evidence to support the allegations of electoral fraud.
The SC also questioned why the petition is challenging only the electoral processes
and alleged frauds of the States Trump lost and not those where he has won.
Earlier, on Tuesday, when Paxton filed the case, US Attorney General William
Barr, an ardent Trump ally, had, out of court, expressed his disfavour with
a petition without proof. He said the US Justice Department could not find any
evidence of widespread voter fraud that could change the election results. He
disclosed that US attorneys and FBI agents had done their part to look into
the complaints.
Yet after the US Supreme Court threw out the petition, Trump tweeted: "Joe
Biden will not set foot in that White House." He has not given up on his wild
goose chase!
