package of 20 lakh rupees. Meanwhile, Muslim women in Varanasi
today took out a rally, decrying the beheading of Suryanarayan.
"We are protesting the killing of the Indian engineer. We
condemn the killing. It was a dastardly act on their part,"
said Rubeena, a protestor. Suryanarayan, 41, a telecommunications
engineer was kidnapped along with his driver on Friday in

Later his beheaded body was found near the main road between
Qalat, the Zabul provincial capital, and Ghazni to the north,
about 300 kilometres southwest of Kabul.
                         Earlier,
the national flag-draped coffin carrying the body of slain
Indian engineer was received with full honours at Delhi's
Palam Airport on Monday afternoon. The coffin was brought
to the capital on an Air India plane and was accompanied
by senior Indian Government officials and representatives
of Al Moayed, the company with which Suryanarayana was employed.
RP Aggarwal, Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh and
the Special Chief Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Government
received the body here and placed wreaths on behalf of Andhra
Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy. The body is scheduled
to be airlifted to Hyderabad at 6:30 p.m.. in the evening.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today approved
the sanction of financial support for the education of all
the three children of the late Suryanarayana. The assistance
will be provided from the Prime Minister's National Relief
Fund. Earlier in the day, the coffin carrying Suryanarayana's
body was given a ceremonial farewell at Kabul Airport. Senior
Afghan Government officials placed floral wreaths on the
casket that was draped with the Indian tricolour. Suryanarayana,
41, was kidnapped with his Afghan driver when gunmen stopped
their vehicle in the southern province of Zabul on Friday.
His beheaded body was found on Sunday in the Hassan Karez
area not far from the place from where he was kidnapped.
A senior Afghan official blamed "common enemies" of India
and Afghanistan for the killing. Relations between India
and Afghanistan have flourished since the Taliban were ousted
in 2001 and India is involved in numerous Afghan aid and
                      reconstruction projects.

                      Suryanarayana's 'second wife' demands compensation

                            Hyderabad: A
new twist has emerged in the shocking killing of K Suryanarayana.
A woman claiming to be his 'second wife' demanded her share
of the compensation sanctioned for his family. Swapna, hailing
from Warangal, met Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime)
Soumya Mishra here and sought permission to have a last
glimpse of the body of her "husband". "Suryanarayana had
married me in 2004 and we have a nine-month- old daughter,"
Swapna told reporters after her meeting with Mishra. Swapna
said that she had "willingly entered into wedlock" with
Suryanarayana despite knowing he was already married with
three children. She said they married at the Ramappa Temple
in Warangal two years ago against the wishes of both of
their families. She showed photographs as proof of her "love
marriage" to Suryanarayana. DCP Mishra said the woman could
not produce any documentary evidence in support of her claim.
"We have asked her to approach the court if there is any
paternity dispute case. As things stand now, the police
have no role in this matter," he said.
