More sex please, we're British (Go To Top)

Three out of four women in their fifties say their sex drive has gone down, with one-third making love just once a month or less. Most claim they will be happier if their sex life went back to the way it was before going through the menopause. But the survey also shows their partners could be part of the problem. Around 40 per cent of British women, the highest in Europe, said their partners were suffering reduced sex drive as well, reports the Daily Mail. Like women in other European countries, British women believe a good sex life is important for their health and wellbeing. But they were most likely to have reduced sex drives, with three out of five saying it was a problem compared with Sweden where the fewest number - just under half - complained. However one-third of British women still think it's a taboo subject to talk about with a doctor, even though most would do so if the medic raised it first. Half said they had experienced less pleasure from sex in the last three months. Overall 80 per cent of women surveyed said maintaining a satisfying sex life was important to them, and an important part of their relationship with their husband or partner. Jilly Andrews, a clinical nurse specialist in London, said local menopause clinics usually have trained doctors and nurses who could help.
