Camilla abandons Charles' love boat (Go To Top)

London: It seems romance has flown out of the window in Prince Charles and Camilla's 15-month marriage, for a romantic cruise alone with the Prince was not enough incentive for the Duchess to stay on board. After a cruise around the Western Isles, the Duchess of Cornwall quite literally abandoned ship, leaving Prince Charles to go alone. Charles and Camilla had joined the Queen on Wednesday for part of her eight-day 80th birthday cruise, which ended on Saturday. However, the Duchess had been expected to remain on board with her husband to make the trip round the northern tip of Scotland to Scrabster, where the former ferry was due to dock. But as the Queen, Prince Philip and other members of the Royal Family trooped off the Hebridean Princess, now a small luxury cruise ship, Camilla was right behind them. The Duchess had only been on board the vessel for three days, and whether she had simply had enough of the sea, or Charles, was not immediately clear. Unable to disguise his anger, the Prince stomped back on board, while courtiers anxiously stressed that the parting, at Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, was simply due to Camilla's lack of sea legs. "Camilla is a poor sailor," a royal insider was quoted by the DailyMail, as saying. But according to witnesses, Charles was unhappy at their premature parting. "Prince Charles did look somewhat disgruntled yesterday when he took leave of his wife on the stern of the Hebridean Princess," he added.
