                      E Sreedharan on news-makers' list
                       Washington:
Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) chief E. Sreedharan
has been named among "top 25 newsmakers of 2005" by the
                      US's Engineering News-Record (ENR), a renowned publication
on the construction industry from the McGraw-Hill stable.
Lauding Sreedharan's efforts in the construction and development
of metro rail in National capital New Delhi, the magazine
said: "This tough Indian manager cut through the country's
notorious red tape, employed global best practices and adopted
safety steps not common in Indian construction". "At the
age of 73, he (Sreedharan) plans to remain on the job for
three more years to oversee completion of the next phase,
leading toward what will ultimately be a 180-km transportation
marvel for India," the weekly added.
                       The
