Ramdev denies using bones in medicines

New Delhi: Maintaining that he never used human bones in his medicines, Baba Ramdev said on Wednesday that he believed in treating diseases only through the power of yoga. Asserting that yoga, homeopathy and Unani medicines have cure for all the diseases, Baba Ramdev said that the tests conducted by his organisation on as many as 10, 000 people across various cities has proved the efficiency of the yoga and ayurveda.

Pleading innocence against the charges levelled by CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat, Ramdev said that his medicines were not used for tests as those who levelled the allegations had removed the labels from the medicines, which were taken for tests in laboratories. "There were labeling and licensing problems and false charges were leveled against me," said Ramdev. He also called upon the government to help people like him in popularising yoga and ayurveda. Ramdev is in the midst of a major controversy following the Communist Party of India (M) demand for a CBI probe against him for allegedly producing medicines having animal parts and bones. The Left party had also demanded his arrest. But all is not lost for Guru Ramdev. Ayurveda practitioners in Allahabad have come out in support of the view that there was no harm in using human bones and animal parts in traditional and alternative systems of medicines. These practitioners claim that the use of animal bones is permissible in Ayurveda medicines and its use was also mentioned in ancient Ayurvedic literature.
