Years
of loud music can cause tumours

Washington: A research has discovered that people with
years of repeated exposure to loud noise have an increased
risk of developing a non-cancerous tumor, called acoustic
neuroma, that may lead to hearing loss. The study found
that people who had been exposed to years of loud noise
were on average one-and-a-half times more likely to develop
this type of tumor compared to people who weren't exposed
to such noise on a regular basis. Hearing loss occurs gradualy
as the tumor grows slowly and presses the cranial nerve
that is responsible for sensing sound and helping with balance.
Symptoms of the tumor include hearing loss and tinnitus,
a constant ringing in the ears. They also typically become
noticeable around age 50 or older. The study, by a team
of reseachers from Ohio State University, was led by Colin
                      Edwards.
                       As
a part of the research, the team gathered four years of
data from the Swedish portion of the INTERPHONE Study, an
international study of cell phone use and tumors that affect
the brain and head. The team conducted the study on 146
study participants with acoustic neuroma, as well as an
additional 564 people without the tumor who served as controls
were also interviewed by a nurse. Study participants ranged
in age from 20 to 69, and of the 146 people with acoustic
neuroma, nearly two out of three were 50 or older. Researchers
found that the two types of loud noise posing the highest
risk of acoustic neuroma development were exposure to machines,
power tools and/or construction which increased tumor risk
by 1.8 times and exposure to music, including employment
in the music industry, which increased the risk by 2.25.
Colin Edwards said that loud noise was seen to be the cause
of the tumor, and added that it did not make a difference
whether it was job related or not. "It doesn't matter if
the noise comes from years of on-the-job exposure or from
                      a source that isn't job-related. It's not surprising that
the longer that people are exposed to loud noise, the greater
their chances become for developing the tumor," he said.

                        London:
Is Angelina Jolie getting creative in her clothing choices
to hide the buzz about the baby growing? Well! if rumours
are to be believed, then the 'Tomb Raider' star is pregnant
with Brad Pitt's child, as she has recently been spotted
covering her tummy, foiling the paparazzi's attempts to
get a picture of her belly. Dressed in a baggy coat and
flip-flops, Jolie seemed to be overly protective of her
stomach when she dropped her four-year-old son Maddox at
school in Malibu. "She seemed to be using his rucksack to
cover her tum from snappers," The Mirror quoted an onlooker,
                      as saying.

                        London:
Author JK Rowling has revealed that she flew into a
panic after realizing that she had misplaced her notes on
the final book in the Harry Potter series. Rowling, who
plans to bring an end to the world famous Harry Potter series
with the as yet un-named seventh volume, told fans that
she had been filled with relief after locating the notepad
which contained a lot of notes that were essential to the
plot. "I have finally located it. I had been remembering,
in its absence, that it contained essential notes. Now I
see that it contains a few useful nuggets amid a lot of
complete dross," the Sun quoted her, as writing on her website.

Sienna Miller uses 'breasts' for 'art'

                        London:
Hollywood actress Sienna Miller is reportedly playing
the role of a painter who colours the canvas with her 'breasts'
in her upcoming film Factory Girl. The on-and-off girlfriend
of actor Jude Law is a hippie artist Edie Sedgwick, who
did painting using her 'boobs' as brushes with pals Andy
Warhol and Brigid Berlin to create their unique Sixties
art, and Sienna is so pleased with her own abilities, that
she has nearly covered all the walls of her home with the
busty daubs. "I've got rooms covered in t**s after going
back to doing what I do best - getting naked!" The Mirror
                      quoted her, as saying.

                        Sydney:
One might have come across with artists drawing paintings
by holding painting brush in mouth or in toes and fingers.
But, here is an Australian woman who makes paintings with
her breasts and puts her signs with her nipple! Di Peel,
the unusual artist who originally hails from Tasmania, is
attracting attention by each passing day, with her first
canvas being sold at five pounds, the second fetching ten
pounds, and she being now busy completing an order for ten
paintings priced at 40 pounds each! The mother of two, Di
works at the kitchen table rather than at a canvas. "I either
apply the paint to my breasts and lean on to the canvas
or apply the paint to the canvas and then lean into it to
spread the paint. I sign every picture with my nipple,"
the Daily Times quoted a report in the Mercury newspaper.
About her novel creations, she said: "They are more like
abstract flowers. But my latest piece, people say, looks
like the Earth from space. My son named it Earthquake, because
he thinks it looks like an earthquake." Di said she takes
a shower every time she changed colours, and used canvases
because drawing paper tends to slide around the table.
