Washington:
Former 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston has laughed off
rumours that rubbing powdered aspirin into her hair is the
reason for her healthy locks. Aniston, who has had a bumpy
2005, said that the aspirin rumours had tickled her sense
of humour and had given her something to laugh about. "Apparently
I smoosh aspirins for my flaky scalp. I crush them and drop
them into my shampoo. That's one of the funniest things
I've heard," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
Oprah's
pet pooches cause a housing uproar (Go

Washington:
American talk show host Oprah Winfrey is in the dog-house
these days, and it's all because of her beloved pet pooches.
It seems that her neighbours in Chicago are kicking up a
fuss as they feel that Oprah's dogs will run amok around
their condominium building. Winfrey has reportedly spent
a fortune connecting separate condos at the city's exclusive
Water Tower complex but now other residents are complaining
that the talk show diva's five pets are totally unacceptable
as the building has a strict one-pet-per- unit policy. However,
one person who is in Oprah's corner is building manager
Judy Roytek who says that as Winfrey owns four units in
the building, she has nor broken any of the housing rules.
"There is a one-pet-per-unit policy, but Oprah owns four
units. She is never here with more than two dogs, and she
is as quiet as a mouse. If any of the residents have any
questions, they can come and ask me what the rules are,"
Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
Liz Hurley's legs are Duran Duran's inspiration
(Go

Washington:
That Liz Hurley has a bewitching influence on her fans
is well documented, but she also seems to be the inspiration
behind some of the greatest modern day bands. And, British
group Duran Duran happens to be one of them, and gave fans
a treat when they played a video of actress Elizabeth Hurley's
legs, in stockings and suspenders, on the big screen in
their background during a performance for their most recent
world tour. John Taylor, band-mate of keyboard player Nick
Rhodes took the video, said that Rhodes had asked the actress
more then a decade ago if he could video her sexy legs for
one of the groups tours, and they had decided to use the
video when they reformed recently. "We're being enhanced
by shots of Liz Hurley's legs in delicious black stockings,
which young Mr Rhodes made. Nick got hold of Liz Hurley
- it must have been about 10 years ago, I guess - and asked
her if we could film her legs for the 'Wedding' album tour.
We dusted it (the footage) off and put it in this production,"
Ratethemusic quoted him, as saying. Hurley's stocking covered
legs now appear on the band's latest concert DVD, which
features the 'Rio' hitmakers onstage in London in 2005.
Smoking mothers make for deformed babies

Washington:
Women have yet another reason to stop smoking while
pregnant. In the largest study of its kind, plastic surgeons
found smoking during pregnancy significantly elevates the
risk of having a child with excess, webbed or missing fingers
and toes. In fact, the study found that smoking just half
a pack per day increases the risk of having a child born
with a toe or finger defect by 29 percent. "Reconstructive
surgery to repair limb, toe and finger abnormalities in
children represents a large portion of my practice, it is
the most common issue I treat," said Benjamin Chang, MD,
ASPS member and study author. "Parents would ask why this
happened to their child, but I didnt have an answer. This
study shows that even minimal smoking during pregnancy can
significantly increase the risk of having a child with various
toe and finger defects," he added. Researchers examined
the records of more than 6.8 million live births in the
United States during 2001 and 2002, finding 5,171 children
born with a digital anomaly where the mother smoked during
pregnancy but did not suffer from other medical complications,
such as heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure.
The study authors discovered pregnant women who smoked one
to 10 cigarettes per day increased the risk of having a
child with a toe or finger deformity by 29 percent. The
more a woman smoked, the higher the risk became. Women who
smoked 11 to 20 cigarettes a day raised the risk 38 percent,
and women who smoked 21 or more cigarettes per day raised
the risk 78 percent.
