Sheila
Dixit, Rambabu Sharma meet Sonia Gandhi
New
Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and president
of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Rambabu Sharma today
met Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi to resolve the
difference between the party unit and Delhi government.
The leaders discussed various issues, including the recent
demolition drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Ashok Gehlot, AICC General Secretary in charge of Delhi
who also attended the meeting, said that decision on the
demolition issue would remain same. "Madam (Sonia Gandhi)
called them to review the working of the coordination committee.
I think the decision taken by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
on the issue of demolition remains same. There are other
issues which need to be discussed like problems of electricity,
water and many more. We are hopeful that whatever have been
decided by Congress President and Chief Minister of Delhi
will be done," said Ashok Gelhlot. The MCD has earmarked
for demolishing around 18,000 unauthorised structures, mainly
illegal commercial establishments in residential areas,
on the Delhi High Court's orders. The MCD had issued notices
about the demolitions to be carried out under police protection.
Residents, however, allege MCD officials were bribed to
look the other way when illegal buildings come up.
