explodes in bus, 15 killed in Morena
by R.C.Sahu
Morena
(Madhya Pradesh): A gas cylinder, used for cooking,
exploded in a crowded bus killing 15 people in Morena, Madhya
Pradesh on Monday, . Officials said at least 25 passengers
were also injured in the explosion, which caused a fire
in the bus. "The fire took place all of a sudden and there
are differing versions about how it caught fire. A lot of
people got stuck but the driver got to know about all this
only a little later. But it got very bad by that time. It
is a very unfortunate incident," said Rustam Singh, Madhya
Pradesh state Backward Classes Minister who visited the
district hospital where most of the injured are being treated.
But delay in the local fire tender reaching the spot caused
several agitated residents to set the municipal office on
fire. The unruly mob also burnt a fire tender and other
vehicles. Police had to burst tear gas shells and fire in
the air to disperse the unruly mob. "The agitated crowd
burnt the municipal office and reduced all files and material
to ashes," said Ram Singh Yadav posted at the local municipality.
The state government has announced a compensation of Rs
50,000 for each of the dead.
